A Time for New Beginnings

January has always been a time for new beginnings, and I feel that more so than ever we are all approaching 2022 with a particular vigour for a fresh start and for this to truly be the year where we make our New Year’s Resolution stick!

The bad news is that about 80% of New Years Resolutions fail by mid-February. So how do you get yourself in that blessed 20%?

For us, the magic of making – and keeping – New Year's resolutions begins with inspiration and is maintained with habit building.

Your resolution needs to be something you are passionate about achieving and can actively enjoy the journey towards. So many people fall foul of choosing a gruelling resolution they feel they should do rather than what they want to do. Such as “I will limit my calories to just 1000 a day” or "I'll get up at the crack of dawn and run for an hour every morning.”

Making Resolutions that Last

Choosing a resolution that is coming from a positive place, and is all about making time for what you enjoy rather than what you dread, is so much more empowering and likely to become habitual.

When it comes to habits, on average it takes about 21 days to start a habit and around 66 days until it is fully formed and comes automatically. This is why January challenges – when not taken to crazy extremes - can actually be a great way discover new activities that can evolve in time into habits.

Here at The Frog Project, our New Year's Resolution is to do as much as we can to empower you to make and keep yours, and we are here to help you on your turning-inspiration-into-habit journey!
